Sweet & Sour Meatballs Recipe
Ingredients:
1 pound of beef (ground)
2 ounces of breadcrumbs (dry)
2 Tablespoons of onion; chopped finely
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/8 teaspoon of pepper
1 Tablespoon of oil (or shortening)
4 Tablespoons of sugar (refined)
2 Tablespoons of cornstarch
2 Tablespoons of soy sauce
2 Tablespoons of vinegar
4 ounces of water
1.5-2 pieces of peppers (green); cut to 1-inch pieces
4 ounces of saved syrup (pineapple)
13-1/4 ounces of canned pineapple (tidbits or chunks); drained, but save the syrup
Instructions:
Combine beef, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and onion inside a bowl; mix thoroughly. Shape to 1-inch balls then cook with oil on a pan till browned. Drain the drippings and take out the meatballs on a platter.
Combine cornstarch and sugar in the pan; add vinegar, soy, saved syrup, and water. Cook and stir constantly till boiling and mixture becomes thick. Add green peppers, meatballs and pineapples. Let it simmer, covered for 15 to 20 mins.
Serve hot over cooked rice.
